Is there any simple way to reduce CO2 in a grow room without flushing out the whole room 5 times an hour? - Thus wasting energy.
What kind of “grow room”? Mushrooms? Plants? What kind of plants? How big is the room? Where are you venting the room to… outside, living space? What is the CO2 source? Details?
100m3 Mushroom grow room. I am trying to save energy. CO2 source are mushroom bags. It seems ludicrous that I have to condition large volumes of air at great expense then vent it to atmosphere because the co2 level is too high for growth >800ppm
I am a software engineer. I recently designed a simple environmental controller for a customer which was powered from the ultrasonic humidifier supply. It provides outputs to control RH/CO2/Heat/cool/and dampers. I was really surprised at the energy requirements of the room. I am told that in winter and summer over 30% of the retail cost of the mushrooms is spent on electrical energy in heating and cooling etc. I just cannot understand why no-one has found a way to extract CO2 without throwing away vast amounts of air - I cannot find anything in this forum. Anyone have ideas?

The best solution I’ve seen for this is using a heat recovery ventilation (HRV) unit on the grow room exhaust. The air runs over coils filled with water/glycol and transfers heat, which is pumped over to the air intake for the room, preheating that air as it enters the room. It can provide significant cost savings.
Hi Steve - Thanks for your input. I realise that this is obviously helpful, but I think that the main problem in a growing room is the fact that preconditioned air has to be extracted just because the CO2 level is higher than required. This does not happen in an incubation room, where high CO2 is tolerated. I had thought that maybe there was some way of electronically filtering CO2 out of the room air, but that seems not to be the case!
Maybe this is a start!!!
